Steroids in olympics

Olympics

Steroids had been identified by the scientists in 19th century for its excellent effect on human body that increase the stamina and power within a very short span of time. They were artificially synthesized in the year of 1930 by three scientists at a time. They all applied this on dogs to see the results and once it came positive, they were applied on men. The sportsmen easily realized that the usage of steroids can improve their performance remarkably in all games. This was started by the weight lifters in America and gradually became popular among all. Players and athletes started using these anabolic steroids as drugs which enter the blood and start acting instantly.

In Olympics games, steroid usage has been observed and banned quite a number of times. In Barcelona Olympics, 1988 Carl Lewis was outperformed by Ben Johnson in the Men’s hundred meter sprint event. The difference was very clear and it was too tough to believe for the audience and also for the organizers. This is the reason why the test for steroid was performed on Johnson. As he tested positive to this, the medals was snatched away from him and he was sent back with disgrace. There are many instances like this where the athletes have performed unethical acts like talking steroids and punished. Now this is a mandatory rule of IOC that all sportsmen should undergo the tests for steroids. So if you are an athlete and often buy steroids to boost your performance then be careful of the loss your career might face because of this.
