Summer is here and that means road trip season! It's always best to plan in advance to ensure you have lots of healthy snacks and beverages. But, what do you eat on the road when you didn't have the time to plan? Most fast-food restaurants and on-the-go rest stops offer some healthy options the whole family can enjoy.
Here are some healthy options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the in-between snacks while on your road trip.
Limit the bagels, they can have up to 6 slices of bread in one bagel!
Breakfast wraps over breakfast sandwiches! Way less carbohydrates.
Limited unhealthy saturated fats and sodiums like bacon and sausage.
Muffins and baked goods are a nice treat but should be limited. They can have up to 800 calories and 40 grams of fat per serving.
Best choice: unsweetened oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and breakfast wraps with veggies and eggs.
Try to limit fancy frozen beverages that are filled with large amounts of sugar and dairy. These beverages can have up to 25 tsp of sugar per serving!
High sugar beverages will send you and your family on the blood sugar roller coaster ride which will drive parents crazy when kids are stuck in the car
Avoid consuming pop as they also have lots of added sugars.

Choose grilled meats over breaded. Breaded chicken or fish are deep fried and have more fat.
Try bowls that contain vegetables and superfoods.!
